Future Masters program

From 2020 onwards, Concertante is giving back.

After 25 years of delivering world class music to local audiences, Concertante Ensemble is looking to the future.

We have recently had amazing success stories of young string players gaining early work experience in the Ensemble before going on to become full-time players in the Sydney Symphony, Melbourne Symphony, and Australian Chamber Orchestra.

It is also a golden opportunity if our national and international guest artists can give master classes to the local music students at the Central Coast Conservatorium.

Lastly, we have always wanted to do something about the lack of access that some kids have the Central Coast to receiving cultural opportunities and activity like our classical music.

Thanks to new community funding from the Central Coast Council, in 2020 this is going to happen.

We’re calling it Future Masters. This is a way we can start sustainably growing cultural capacity on the Central Coast. There is no reason why world class music shouldn’t originate and take place in our area, and be available to all.

Our program will have three main areas:

Schools Concert at The Art House (primary students)

In Term 3 we will be deliver an exciting schools concert on a September Friday afternoon at The Art House. This concert will be a special opportunity offered free of charge to selected schools and home-schooled children who can book seats in advance.

This concert will be a unique chance for kids to be exposed to world class music by some of the country’s best professionals, introducing them to the stringed instruments and the elements of art music in a memorable setting.

Schools invited will be primarily in the Wyong surrounds or which do not have strong music programs, and home-schooled students from any Central Coast suburb are welcome. Home schooling educators can contact us directly or liaise through our project partner, the Home Education Association.

Master Classes at the Con (secondary students)

We are very excited to be connecting our star guest artists with the students of the Central Coast Conservatorium in 2020. These workshops will vary from chamber music to solo and orchestral.

For a budding young musician, a special opportunity during high school age can be a major moment that makes them decide to become a full-time professional artist. The Con has a long history of doing this, and we’re thrilled to be able to contribute in this way by offering our network of amazing artists.

Stay tuned in 2020 for more updates.

Mentoring Program (tertiary students)

We will be embedding up to 10 tertiary string students in the Ensemble during our 2020 subscription series. As fully paid extras they will play alongside our regulars, who will mentor them and encourage them in their careers. They will gain invaluable professional experience and see what it is like to play in a professional chamber orchestra. This will both contribute to their resumés and expose them to the industry by playing with our top tier guest musicians.

There has never been a local opportunity like this on the Central Coast. This is how we can connect our expertise and network of musicians to the budding young players of the future.
